Today we will discover the Capital of Valletta, which was built by the Order of St John almost 500 years ago. We will walk through the main streets of the city visiting sites like the Barrakka gardens, Auberges of the Knights, and city gate. And let’s also discover St John’s Cathedral with a couple of paintings by a very famous Italian artist named Caravaggio! epublic street. Back on the van, let’s go to Marsaxlokk, the most popular and quaint fishing village to see who will discover the most ‘Luzzu’ , our typical, colored Maltese fishing boats with a pair of eyes fixed on the front of these wooden boats to ward evil spirits. Another stop will be to the over 5,000 year old Hagar Qim Temple where we will find out how on earth the people of the time could possibly move heavy slabs of stone. These stunning temples were built with large stone slabs which weigh 5 – 20 tonnes each. When you close your eyes, you can still feel a strong presence of the past at this magical place. On to a stunning point, the Blue Grotto, a cave with a natural arch surrounded with crystal clear blue sea. Weather permitting , a 20 minutes boat ride takes people inside the cave and the surrounding cliff. Last but not least, enjoy a stroll through Mdina, the old capital city of Malta build a couple of hundreds of meters above sea level on top of a hill. The city is full of narrow medieval streets built out of the beige sandstoneand, baroque palaces and churches. An unforgettable day on Malta!
