In a short amount of time and being a family, it can be a challenge to visit all of the works located in the city. Our Barcelona4Kids team, will give you a Glimpse into Gaudi’s Life from the outside, that is, looking at the façades. The tour begins in Plaça Reial, in front of the water fountain, where you will meet with your dynamic family friendly guide. There you will encounter a set of lampposts, Gaudi’s first work as an architect. They are embedded with Barcelonan culture, given the prominent use of the caduceus of Mercury, the emblem of the city of Barcelona.

The tour follows a chronological approach of Antoni Gaudi’s works. Following your visit to the architect first work at Plaça Reial, you will be taken to his second piece of work, the Palau Güell. With its monumental entrance and parabolic arch above its iron gates, the Palau Güell is guaranteed to make you experience all sort of things.

The tour will then proceed with a stroll around the Block of Discord, also known is Spanish as the Illa de la Discòrdia. This neighborhood, located in the gothic quarter, is well known for its peculiar and distinctive architectural structures built by many worldwide known modernist artists, including Gaudi himself. It is also the host of Casa Batlló a neo-gothic building and one of Gaudi’s most impressive works. Be ready to be exposed to its exterior beauty garnished with a Montjuïc sandstone façade and bone-shaped nature-inspired majestic columns. You will then visit the Passeig de Gràcia, a street famous for the Bar Torino, which Gaudi helped decorate. Get to know Gaudi even more by following your guide through the visit in the Eixample area. Not only did Gaudi rent several apartments in that area throughout his life, but he also collaborated with Martorell – another important Modernist architect – to design the Barcelona Cathedral. Your guide will expose you to all these dynamics and show you around the streets where this celebrated architect ones used to walk upon.

The last part of the tour will be dedicated to two of Gaudi’s most extraordinary masterpieces: Casa Milá, also known as La Pedrera, and the unfinished Sagrada Familia. La Pedrera is characterized by tons of things ranging from its vastness to itsfaçade covered in limestone, not including the top bit which is embellished with white tiles arousing the image of snowy mountains. Be prepared to marvel at this grand building and to experience its many years of history, like you’ve never done before! The next and final stop will be the outstanding Sagrada Familia.
