Prepare to try some of the Netherland’s most delicious delicacies, led by one of our expert guides on our ‘Amsterdam Food Tour.’ Eat your way through Amsterdam’s international cuisine and taste its many delicacies like a true local. What better way is there to get to know a new city than through its food culture? On this tour you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the many flavors from all over the world that have shaped Dutch cuisine while tasting bites in a local market, beer garden and family restaurant.
During the tour you be able to savor many carefully-chosen, local delicacies including the best fish in town, a sweet ‘stroopwafel’ and maybe even national cheeses. As you travel through the streets of Amsterdam your guide will show you the most traditional places to find food and will give you the sort of recommendations that only a true local can provide. Whether it’s from a snack-bar or from a fish vender, rest assured you will be given the most traditional foods for a reasonable price.
For families and kids with a sweet tooth, you’ll get the chance to try one of Amsterdam’s most famous exports: pancakes and poffertjes. Every Dutch child loves them and we’re sure you will too! Once you get a taste for the local favorites you’ll be hooked. Thanks to its long history as a trading and maritime city, Amsterdam boasts a large dining tradition with many flavors unique to Europe.
During the tour you’ll taste ‘vissie’ from the town’s best fish vendor at the local market, and travel through the bustling market stalls to see stacks of fresh produce and specialty ingredients on display. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a freshly baked stroopwafel, a favorite Dutch treat made with wafers and caramel.
You’ll then complete the tour with a taste of a classic Dutch beer and maybe even a selection of local cheeses. By the end of the tour, you’ll depart from your guide with a full stomach and a list of recommendations on where to eat, drink and explore during the rest of your visit.
This tour takes a bit more time than a regular city walk of course, 3 hours is about the minimum. Drinks and food are not paid for, but you will get a fair price. If you need to pick up some souvenirs for the folks back home; here’s an excellent opportunity!
