Best Things to Do in Valencia with Kids 2023

Valencia family guide

Valencia is one of the most family-friendly cities, perfect for any family holiday. From beautiful sandy beaches, the wonderful Mediterranean weather, and the flavoursome cuisine your family will have a wonderful time in this town. So if you’re planning your trip to Valencia  this summer, here are some of the best things to do in Valencia with kids:

Explore Valencia’s Historic Old Town

Your little ones will absolutely love walking through the historic city centre of Valencia as the gothic-style architecture of the city will inspire their imagination. While in the city, make sure to explore the five main neighbourhoods including the central market, the 13th Century Gothic style Cathedral, the old Muslim Quarters and the Silk Market.

If you want to elevate the experience for your kids, make sure to sign up for a family-friendly tour of Valencia’s historic city centre. Your guide will tell you stories and bring the vibrant city to life!

Taste the Flavours of Eastern Spain

The Catalan villages are known for the funniest of dishes and Spain’s most popular dish, the Paella, stems from Valencia. But, you’re mistaken if you think that Valencia is only famous for that! The city offers quirky and unusual delicacies that are a must-try when you enter the land of the foodies!

Your children are going to love the outburst of flavours from cocas ( a dish similar to pizza) and if you’re feeling adventurous, you may even try the Horchata or the Turrón. The locals recommend tasting Fideuà or the Arròs a banda but there are multiple mouth-watering foods to try at Valencia. You could also consider signing up for a food tour to try all the local dishes and get a feel of the cuisine with an experienced foodie guide.

Discover the Hidden Gems of Valencia on a Bike

Another fun way to explore the city is on a bike. This will allow you to explore the more off-beat parts of the city, while having a wonderful time as a family. You’ll even get the chance to see the incredible panoramic view of the city, and also get some wonderful family pictures together.

If you decide to join a bike tour, your guide takes you to all the main attractions and all the must-see spots in Valencia while you learn tons of facts and stories about this magical city.

Your kids will surely have a blast riding around the city, and they will surely thank you for all the amazing memories in Valencia.

Spend a Fun Family Day in Gulliver’s Park

Ahoy! Calling all Lilliputians aboard! The Gulliver’s Park, situated in the Turia Garden is an absolute gem for your younger kids! Adapted from Gulliver’s Travels, the park holds a massive 70 feet long sculpture of Gulliver that has several slides and other play areas for your children to explore! It is a must-visit place when you’re visiting Valencia with younger kids, so make sure to save a day to let your little ones play and have the time of their life.

Learn and Expand the Little Minds at the Museums

Who doesn’t love a day at the museum? It is such a great way for the kids to explore and learn during their time in Valencia. We highly recommend visiting the Principe Felipe Science Museum as it offers an exclusive interactive exhibition that is sure to ignite that spark in your children. Your children are going to love learning about the evolution of life and the start of technology from these interactive booths in the museum. The philosophy of “Do touch, do feel, do learn” will definitely teach a thing or two to your little ones.

Before you go, we highly recommend looking up the opening hours and booking your tickets online so you skip the line to buy tickets at the venue.

Visit the Valencia Bioparc

The Valencia Bioparc is a 10-hectare zoo that is perfect to keep children of all ages entertained. Your little ones will love visiting the zoo and learning about the different animals, so make sure to add it to your to-do list!

What makes this Bioparc different from other ordinary zoos, is that wildlife is presented in natural habitats, allowing animals to live together in a re-created African landscape. Watching the animals up close is an excellent experience for the little ones to learn and explore while having fun.

Another interesting thing here is that the species are classified according to their origin, which also teaches your little ones about the diversity in nature! Make sure to check opening hours and buy your tickets online before visiting.

Learn About Aquatic Life at the Aquarium

Situated at Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, the Oceanographic is one of the largest aquariums in Europe, housing over 500 different species of marine life. Your kids will love this experience as it will teach them all about marine ecosystems.

The highlight of the aquarium is the dolphin exhibit and the underwater tunnel that allows you to walk through the shark tank. Various other enclosures allow you to watch the crocodiles lazing in the shade, and the penguins diving while jellyfish swim past you.

If you get tired of walking around in the aquatic world, there is also an underwater restaurant that awaits you. Here you can enjoy a meal while still gazing at the multitudes of fish shoals passing by. Don’t forget to check the opening hours and buy your tickets online here before visiting.
