And many would like to come back, over 3,000 Euros worth are thrown into the fountain every day, and it is this ritual which inspired the famous Frank Sinatra song ‘Three Coins in the Fountain.’ Money goes out to charity for Rome’s less fortunate residents. Now get ready to visit the Pantheon. This Roman engineering marvel is something you cannot miss. This Ancient Roman monument is the only Pagan temple that remains as it was in the 2nd century AD. In the Middle Ages, it became a church and as a result was protected from destruction. You must see it inside because only once inside can you fully appreciate the true scale and beauty of this ancient building. It is also the burial place of one of Rome’s most famous artists, Raphael. Go find him there!
Then our final stop: Piazza Navona, Rome´s most beautiful square, no other piazza in Rome rivals it, when you are there you will see why. Its shape is due to the fact that it used to be an ancient stadium, which housed over 30,000 spectators who came to see chariot racing and even naval battles! In fact, you can see a part of this ancient arena underneath the piazza. In earlier times, this square was flooded in August so people could splash around to beat the summer heat. Today this is where you´ll find Rome´s Christmas market. It has 3 beautiful fountains, the most famous being the Fountain of the Four Rivers, and the most mysterious. Go and discover,

We booked a private tour Rome’s famous squares and fountains and I was a little worried that my 13 year old daughter would be bored for almost 3 hours but our guide was amazing and my daughter loved her, she made the afternoon fun and interesting and I would definitely recommend booking Rome 4 Kids tours.
We spent the morning in Rome with our guide touring Piazza di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi and Piazza Navona. She was patient, fun and informative for our three boys (ages 10, 13 and 18). She brought along tons of books and pictures to help the boys imagine what Rome might have been like in times past and even had suggestions for us for the rest of our stay. She answered every question we had and told tons of cool stories about what we were seeing. We couldn’t have had a better time!
