ROME – OPTIONAL – Pizza Class for Pizza Lovers – Small Group

Our fun-filled Pizza Making Class for Pizza Lovers features an authentic stone oven and a fantastic kid-friendly pizza chef that will teach you how to make an authentic Italian pizza! The cooking class takes place in the very heart of Rome, near Piazza Navona. You have your own workstation in a real Pizzeria. Here, you will get a chance to learn about the entire process of how a pizza is made: from mixing the right ingredients, kneading the dough like a real ‘pizzaiolo’, the Italian ‘pizza maker’, to decorating your pizza with tasty toppings.

Highlights:

  • You and your kids will get some hands-on experience in the kitchen, and learn some valuable skills that you might want to show off to your friends and family once you arrive home.
  • You could take as many pictures as you like, and relax your legs (something that you will appreciate if you have been exploring the city’s wonders in previous days).
  • One of the most-loved parts of this class in the moment when the little ones start getting creative with the plethora of fresh ingredients that you can sprinkle on your beautiful creation.

NOTES

  • Please note that the class is fully customizable, please let us know of any food allergies or diet restrictions.
  • You will be led by an expert and professional pizza chef, proficient in English, and possibly other languages upon request.
  • For the parents who do not feel like getting their hands dirty, but rather prefer to capture you may take pictures and eat a la carte if you prefer.
  • The pizza-making class itself tends to add to about an hour, but keep in mind that you should add the time to have lunch/dinner to the experience.
  • An option for you might be to hire a professional photographer to document your wonderful cooking family adventures. We could set that up for you. Just ask, and you shall receive!

Includes:

  • A delicious pizza that you will prepare with your family.
  • A complimentary soft drink, water, beer, or wine of your choice.

Excludes:

  • Please be aware that tips are not included in the price per person

Day 2ROME - Heart of Rome by Golf Cart with the Amazing Rome Hunt

What better way is there to explore the city than from the seat of a Golf Cart? Our Heart of Rome by Golf Cart Tour is one of our absolute bestsellers! The tour will be based on the Amazing Rome Hunt, which is essentially a search and find game based on a wonderful tween-friendly fill-in booklet.

On the Golf Cart tour, you’ll see the following hot spots:

  • Piazza Navona and Campo de’ Fiori.
  • St Peter’s square and the grand Vatican walls. It is most likely that the golf cart will drive along the Vatican walls.
  • The Pantheon is always a great place to stop. Important to note here is that the Pantheon has recently made ticket purchase mandatory, so if you intend to see the inside, please remember to drop us an email before.
  • The Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Piazza Venezia are some of the most loved iconic must-see destinations in Rome.
  • The Mouth of Truth can only be visited outside on this tour, unless you really want to have an Audrey Hepburn moment and do not mind waiting in the cue.
  • A stop for gelato or a quick pizza by the slice is optional but we highly recommend it!
  • The Coliseum is another beloved spot to visit, which can be included on the 4-hour tour. Alternatively, you could ask to finish there and then go in to see it once your tour is finished.
  • While you are zooming past a plethora of Ancient Roman marvels, you can take pictures and videos until the storage space on your cameras will fill up!

NOTES

  • The Golf Cart Tour for Families is entirely customizable. This means that if there are any specific spots of the city that you or the younger traveler of the family really want to visit, we will try to make that happen, within a reasonable distance of the other stops on the tour – as long as the golf carts can reach them.
  • There is no specific meeting point for the Golf Cart Tour. Indeed, we can even pick you up at your hotel lobby, or lunch restaurant if you decided to have an afternoon tour.
  • The Golf Cart tour is a highly suggested option for families with younger kids and/or for those with mobility issues, since it does not involve much walking.

Includes:

  • Golf cart with a professional drive and a tour guide that explains all the spots that you visit in detail.
  • We will book the tickets for you.

Underground & Secret Rome Tour

On the Underground & Secret Rome Tour, you will peel back the layers of Roman history — quite literally — by going underground and exploring the enchanting and mysterious tunnels of the catacombs. Down here, where time has stood still for all of these centuries, you will get to explore underground tombs and chapels, gaze at stunning frescoes and thousands of centuries-old bones.

The highlights of the tour are the San Clemente Basilica, San Pietro in Vincoli Church, and, last but not least, the star attraction of this tour — the Catacombs. On a longer tour, the Capuchin Crypt could be added.

Your private kid-friendly tour guide could pick you up with the driver and the vehicle wherever you prefer – your hotel or apartment, outside the museum, or even somewhere in the city center.

NOTES

  • The Underground & Secret Rome Tour is a highly suggested option for families with kids over the age of 6, as it involves a moderate amount of walking, and being underground might spook the very little ones at times.
  • The tour inside the Catacombs could be with a small group (this is a Vatican protocol) conducted by the guides of the catacombs. Your private guide is with you and can explain a few things while underground.
  • During winter (but even in summer) it can be chilly underground, so pack some extra layers.
  • In most tours we would say that cameras as an absolute must. Here, this is the case as well, but please be mindful of the fact that the catacombs are dimly lit, so your pictures will not go on the National Geographic list of best pictures of the year.
  • Please note that, although there is a transfer service from your hotel to the different catacombs dotted mostly outside of the ancient city walls, once you get out of the vehicle it is mainly an underground walking tour. So pack some comfortable shoes and be mindful of the size and weight of your bags.

Day 6Flight to Athens from Rome ATHENS

Transfer from Athens Airport to Hotel Your driver will be waiting for you at the Arrivals Gate, holding a sign with your name. You will be picked up and dropped off at your accommodation in Athens.

ATHENS – A private stroll around the heart of Athens, followed by an Authentic Meze dinner

No place on earth screams culture like Athens – once the capital of one of the greatest Empires of the Ancient World! On this wonderful tour, you will be introduced to some of the city’s most famous landmarks and picturesque places! We recommend this tour for the very beginning of your trip, as it will allow you to get a feel for the city and orientate yourself for the following days. As a result, you will notice that you will waste less time in the following days trying to figure out what places to visit or to locate where you are. The overall aim of the tour is to make you feel comfortable navigating through the city, and greeting people and ordering in a taverna just like the Greeks do!

The tour usually starts in the heart of the city. The narrow and windy streets of a lovely neighbourhood called Plaka will blow you away, and help you learn about the history of one of the oldest neighbourhoods in all of Europe! The next stop is beautiful Anafiotika, also known as the ‘secret neighbourhood of Athens.’ Although it is secret, your expert tour guide will now their way around this neighbourhood and unveil all the secrets that this fantastic neighbourhood holds! Taking pictures, stopping for a decadent ice cream on a hot summer’s day or resting on a cheeky bench in the shade of a pine tree is always an option along the way!

While you are strolling around in this area, you will have a chance to visit many other places. Particularly striking, among these, is the esplanade of Dionysiou Areopagitou, from where you will be able to get a prime view of the most quintessentially Athenian monument – the Parthenon with its dominating Great Propylaea. Another important stop on this tour will be the the Acropolis Museum and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Please keep in mind that because this is a private tour, your tout guide will be more than willing and able to tweak the itinerary of the tour, should there be any specific things that you and your family would like to see!

Finally, the tour will end in a traditional taverna located in one of the most historical streets of Athens. Although the food is the protagonist of this part of the tour, the breathtaking views that the taverna has to offer will be an incredible backdrop to your memorable meal! At the taverna, your expert tour guide will take your through the menu and explain some of the basics of Greek cuisine. Of course if you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask at any point!

By the end of the tour, we hope that you will have gotten a general sense of the culture and main historical neighbourhoods of Athens. Once it has ended, you will be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the evening with your loved ones! If you have the energy, you might even want to pop into the Thiseion Open Air Cinema, voted the best summer cinema in the world by CNN for a stunning movie experience.

Day 7ATHENS - Ancient Greece Mythology Tour - an exploration of the Acropolis and its Archaeological museum | Private 4 Hour Tour

One of the best things to do for families with children in Greece is a Mythology Tour. The reason why the Mythology tour is always a good idea is that it is educational and playful ay the same time, keeping the younger travellers engaged and happy. The tour tends to last about 4 hours, and during this time, you and your little ones will learn about the mythology of Ancient Greece – anything from the stories of the gods of Mount Olympus and the heroes of the Ancient world.

Once you arrive at the Acropolis, your expert, child-friendly tour guide will explain what inspired the Acropolis, the reasons why Athens was once one of the greatest cities in the world, and offer fun and creative insight into Athenian society. Thereafter, you will hear the world famous stories of hoe the the Parthenon, the Theater of Dionysus, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Temple of Erechtheion, as well as the Sanctuary of Asclepius came to be. What makes this tour even more interesting is its technological aspect. An iPad enabling a 3D visualisation of how the Acropolis, and many statues, buildings, and ancient objects looked in the 5th century BC will be provided.

Essentially, you and your family should pick the Athens Mythology Tour because it a great alternative to the more ‘standard’ tour out there, which are often perceived as being a bit dull and dry for the youngest adventurers in the group.

Includes:

  • A 4-hour private guided tour by a state-licensed guide specialized in family-friendly tours
  • Tour specially designed for families, adjustable to suit the ages of children
  • An iPad that has been preloaded with an extra augmented reality program will be made available for the time spent at the Acropolis
  • Hotel pick-up (if your hotel is centrally located)
  • All taxes

Excludes:

  • Personal expenses
  • The entrance fees for the Acropolis are not included in the price of our tour. We do, however, offer a ‘Skip The Line’ service for entrance tickets to the Acropolis, at EUR20 per person from April to October, or EUR10 from November to March.
  • The entrance fees for the Acropolis Museum are not included in the price of our tour.
  • Additional iPad (EUR15 per item)
  • Cost of EUR3 per person for Whispers (if required by COVID Protocol during your visit)
  • Any tips to the tour guide or potential driver.

Duration: 4 hours | Private

Our Minivan Adventure through Athens’ gems Tour is an incredible way of exploring the main monuments of Athens with your family from the comfort of your private minivan.

Especially in the simmering summer heat, the comfort of being dropped off and picked up in front of museums and monuments, alongside the luxurious air conditioning that will make you feel blessed, this is an all-time favourite of families because it implies a level of comfort that those takin a walking tour can only dream of! Your driver, alongside your private tour guide will spoil you for the day, taking you on an incredible ride across the city.

Because the Minivan Adventure through Athens’ gems Tour is a private tour, it is entirely customisable. However, there are a few destinations that we highly recommend and that, should there be no preference of specific spots on your end, will constitute the backbone of the tour by default! Here are a few of them:

  • The neighborhood of Plaka (Here, you’ll be able to hop out and walk around to areas only accessible by foot, such as the Roman Agora, Hadrian’s Library or the Ancient Agora)
  • The neighborhood of Thisseio
  • The neighborhood of Kerameikos, a famous urban art destination
  • Syntagma Square
