He decided to build the tallest building in Rome (at the time), that’s the reason why it turned into a fortress many years later and then the Popes decided to turned it into a prison. You will hear and learn many fascinating historical facts! But this place in not only fascinating but also mysterious. In fact you will hear about the Passetto di Borgo (a small passageway that links the Vatican to the Castel so that the Pope could take refuge in case of danger) and about Ponte Sant’Angelo, which was the small inner courtyard for the executions that took place at that time.
