To visit the Vatican Museums which receive about 20, 000 visitors a day is challenging but most especially when you have kids in tow. The museums stretch about 9 miles long containing 54 galleries with 20,000 works on display. This is a place and a tour where your family MUST have an expert and fun storyteller. The love for art, beauty, culture and history is one of the greatest gifts that we could pass on to the next generation. And this is why we are here: to assist you in making this family experience as enjoyable and as memorable as possible. So why would a family with kids book a four hour Early Vatican tour? It would take about forty-five minutes to reach the last sala of the Vatican Museums from the main entrance, without stopping to glance at the other artworks. This last sala is the Sistine Chapel. On this Early Vatican Tour, your guide could take you to the Sistine Chapel first if you choose to! To be inside the most celebrated chapel in the world before the crowds is a luxury! The Vatican museums open to the general public at 9AM. You can level up the experience by getting inside the museums one hour before the general public gets in.
See the Sistine Chapel and let Michelangelo share with you his extraordinary gift. Take your time as this is an experience that enriches not only the eyes and the mind but most of all, the soul! Let your kids be captivated by all that art and color! Then see some of the most important highlights of the Vatican collection, part of the Vatican gardens and even the Gallery of Carriages to see the car collection of the popes. This is something many visitors miss because this place is a bit hidden. With your child friendly guide armed with our Divine Race Scavenger Hunt, discover small curiosities, learn more about important artworks and listen to interesting anecdotes and stories only an expert insider knows.
After the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums, pass through the no line access to St. Peter´s Basilica and get ready to visit one of the holiest shrines of all time. Just to tickle your curiosity, come and discover why the basilica and the square are both named after one saint and why is there an Egyptian obelisk in front of the grandest Catholic church in the world. If you’re looking for a different type of experience while visiting Rome, we highly recommend contacting Europe4Kids Tours and arranging for Early Bird Vatican Tour. The place was so crowded when we visited at end of June and there were so much to see. Without a guide, we wouldn’t have even been able to move. Our guide was great with children and told all background stories in fairytale sort of way. She only took us to see things that children would be interested.
I had booked this tour from Australia, hoping that my kids (aged 12 and 9) would not be ‘over it’ after 6 weeks of traveling through Europe. It was important to me to take them to the Vatican but didn’t want a boring art history lesson for them or my husband. Our guide was nothing short of amazing. The highlights are all we needed, I learned so much. The tour ends at the front of the Basilica so you don’t have to line up with the crowds to get in there. Really perfect!
