If you’re looking for a different type of experience while visiting Rome, we highly recommend contacting Europe4Kids Tours and arranging for Early Bird Vatican Tour. The place was so crowded when we visited at end of June and there were so much to see. Without a guide, we wouldn’t have even been able to move. Our guide was great with children and told all background stories in fairytale sort of way. She only took us to see things that children would be interested.
I had booked this tour from Australia, hoping that my kids (aged 12 and 9) would not be ‘over it’ after 6 weeks of traveling through Europe. It was important to me to take them to the Vatican but didn’t want a boring art history lesson for them or my husband. Our guide was nothing short of amazing. The highlights are all we needed, I learned so much. The tour ends at the front of the Basilica so you don’t have to line up with the crowds to get in there. Really perfect!
